Timothy Shook, Ph.D., NCTM
Position: Professor of Music; Chair, Division of Performing Arts; Piano
Bio: Ph.D. University of Oklahoma
Professor of Music and Chair of the Southwestern College Performing Arts Division, Dr. Shook was named the United Methodist Exemplary Teacher in 2007. He was invited to be a Keynote Speakers for the Innovation Odyssey 2007 at the St. Francis Methodist School in Singapore. He is known for presenting workshops for the teachers throughout the Mid-Western US, New York, Malaysia, and Singapore and is the author of several articles published in Keys Magazine, Keyboard Companion, and Kansas Music Review. Dr. Shook serves as the Immediate Past President for the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA), serve as Chair of the Local Association Grant Committee for Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and is an active member of two local chapters—Wichita Metropolitan Music Teachers Association and Walnut Valley Music Teachers Association. He was presented papers and served on panels to the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy Forum. Additionally, Dr. Shook operates a large independent piano studio in Wichita, KS, combining group and private instruction.
